The history of the creation of the Slovak Technical University began in 1762 with the Foundation of the Academy of Mining and Forestry in Banska Stiavnica. It was the first university in Slovakia to have technical education at a university level. In 1939, the university moved to Bratislava under the new name Slovak Technical University.
